Testimonial of A Young Man I Helped (The case of a mentally ill man incarcerated for owing child support).
- I
helped a mentally ill young man who owed child support and was incarcerated –
he could not pay child support because he was disabled and could not work. I enlisted the aid of several PA state government officials as well as the appropriate state Senators and Representatives to help me assist him with his issue. Ultimately the warden of the county prison where was incarcerated was convinced to release him from the county prison
to the mental health unit at a local hospital were he was evaluated by a
doctor for Social Security Disability Benefits. I contacted the local Social Security Administration office and he was approved for benefits within a
couple of weeks; I even received a call on a Saturday morning from someone at the
SSA office that he was approved for his benefits. He started receiving his disability benefits within 2
weeks and has since paid off all of his back child support. He is doing wonderfully today. He is doing the best emotionally he has ever done in his life.
